The fourth candle lighting ceremony of Hanukkah 5771 in the presence of the Minister of Defense, Bnei Gantz, the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Amir Eshel, and the representatives of the Jewish fighters in World War II:
Avraham Grinzide, 95, a Red Army fighter who participated in battles on Polish and German soil. He currently serves as the national chairman of World War II veterans.
Yitzhak (Tolka) Arad, 94, who was a partisan in the Vilnius (Vilna) area and took part in battles against the Germans. He was Chief Education Officer in the IDF and Chairman of the Yad Vashem Board.
Gideon Gilboa, 97, one of the volunteers from Eretz Israel to the British army who participated in the battles of the Jewish Brigade in northern Italy.
The fighters were awarded a certificate signed by the Minister of Defense and a medal to mark the 75th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany.
