Biography

Lieutenant Colonel Laurence David Adler (14 May 1899 Johannesburg, South Africa - 30 August 1997 Johannesburg, South Africa) South African Medical Corps (SAMC), was the son of Sidney Adler (1861-1955) and Kate Adler born Cohen (1876-1957).

He was educated in Johannesburg at Marist Brothers, King Edward School and the University of the Witwatersrand. He did post graduate studies in London, Edinburgh, Netherlands and Vienna. He served as a Lance Corporal in the SAMC in World War One and was Lieutenant Corporal in the SAMC during World War Two, where he was Deputy Director of Medical Services Natal Command, Durban.

He married Florence Flossie Blanche Michel (1900- 2005) on the 13th December 1925 and they had two children. He was a medical officer of health, medical adviser and director of companies.
