Dr Jacob (Jack) Abelsohn (25/07/1910 Cape Town, South Africa -02/11/1979 Cape Town, South Africa) was the son of Chaim (Charles) Abelsohn and Sarah Abelsohn (nee Chasan) and husband of Ruby Abelsohn (nee Leftin). During WW II he was a Major in the South African Medical Corp. He worked as a Consultant Anaesthetist at the Military Hosptial, Wynberg, Cape Town and as a Senior Anaesthetist at the Cape Command. He was a senior Hon. Anaesthetist at Groote Schuur Hospital, Victoria Hospital, Wynberg and Maitland Cottage Hospital. Source: South African Jewry 1976-77 Edition.
