Biography

Signaller Selwyn Abrahams (23 August 1921 Durban, South Africa - 28 October 2008 Durban, South Africa) service number 3734, was the son of Solomon Abrahams (1876-1938) and Lena Abrahams (nee Feigenbaum) (1887-1956) of Durban.
He enlisted in the Union Defence Force and was taken PoW in North Africa. He was one of 700 South African PoWs sent to camp PG 110, Carbonia, Sardinia. They formed part of the Bacu Abis work detachment and worked in the Carbonia coal mines.
After the war, he married Rhoda Narco (1920-1988) in 1949 in Durban and they had three children. He was a qualified pharmacist.
