Biography

Private Julius Abraham (26 February 1907 Port Elizabeth, South Africa -4 November 1983 Cape Town, South Africa), Union Defence Force, known as Butch, was the son of Solomon Abraham (1874-1957) and Esther Abrahams born Davidowitz (1885-1974) of Port Elizabeth.
He was educated at Grey's College, Port Elizabeth.
During World War Two, he served as a private in the 8th Battalion, Union Defence Forces. During 1938 to 1948 he served as Liaison between the Egyptian Government and South African Jewry. He was a commissioner of Oaths.
He married Jessie Dorothy Saks (1912-1984) on the 31st March 1936 in Johannesburg. The family lived in Cape Town and they had two daughters. He was a seaweed entrepreneur.
