Biography

Staff Sergeant Idel Abrams (4 September 1905 Lithuania - 7 February 1973 Johannesburg, South Africa) Union Defence Force, was the son of Boris Abramowitz and Pessa Abramowitz. He changes his surname from Abramowitz to Abrams.

He was educated at the Russian Gymnasium. He came to South Africa in 1925.

During World War Two, he served with the Union Defence Force up North. He was a staff sergeant.

He married Minnie Perel (1908-1989) on the 9 November 1933 in Johannesburg. At that time he was a general dealer in Marikana. The family subsequently lived in Johannesburg. They had a son. He was a merchant.
