Biography

Gunner Gerald Israel Anstey (26 November 1921 Cape Town, South Africa - 11 June 2012 Cape Town, South Africa) 1st Special Service Battalion (Tank Corps) Union Defence Force, was the son of Gerson Anstey (1876-1946) and Fanny Anstey born Taylor (1889-1940) of Cape Town. He was educated at South African College School and the University of Cape Town.

He served as a gunner in the 1st S.S.B. Tank Corps and saw service in Egypt and Italy.

He married Sybil Lipschitz (1932-2009) in November 1954 and they had two children. He was a medical practitioner in Belville.
