Dr. Solomon Abel (12 October 1915 Cape Town - 8 March 2007 Cape Town, South Africa ) was the son of Abraham Abel (1873-1966) and Liba Leah Abel born Lampert (1872-1956) of Cape Town. He was educated at South African College School and the University of Cape Town. He married Anita Gerstein (1925-2016) in 1950 and they had four children. The family lived in Cape Town. He was an ophthalmic surgeon in Cape Town.During World War Two, he served with the Union Defence Force in Abyssinia, North Africa and Italy from 1940 to 1945.Sources: 1.
