John Lurie (18 April 1912 Birzai, Lithuania - 22 June 1995 Cape Town, South Africa) was the son of Aron Jacob Lurie (1871-1941) and Mina Lurie born Feybush (1875-1941). He was educated in Lithuania. He came to South Africa in 1938. He married May Kantor (1919-1980) on the 21 June 1942 in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. They had four children. He was a Director of several companies and the family lived in Bulawayo. The family subsequently moved to Cape Town, South Africa.During World War Two he served part time in the Rhodesian Army from 1939 to 1944.
