Hyman Solomon Abramowitz (21 April 1917 Fort Beaufort, South Africa - 13 October 1992 Johannesburg, South Africa) known as Hymie, was the son of Woolf Joseph Abramowitz (1882-1953) and Taube Malke (Tilly) Abramowitz nee Preiss (1888 -1925). During World War Two he served in the Union Defence Force and was sent 'up North'. His younger brother, Louis Julius Abramowitz (1921-1991) also served in the UDF. Hymie married Alice Ethel Davidson (1921-2003) and they lived in Johannesburg.
