Mobilized during the Second World War, Joseph Cohen (born in Bône on November 5, 1903) was mobilized on August 23, 1939, following the Decree of General Mobilization. He was placed in the "Armed Service" category, as can be seen on his military booklet (see the "Documents" section at the end of this chapter). He served in signals (1939) and then in the civil defense of public buildings.As a family man, he was placed on indefinite leave on July 10, 1940 (Captain, commanding the "55th Flak Group, 303rd Battery", Bône Mobilization Detachment).
