Biography

Robert Israel Liptz (29 August 1912 Gwelo Rhodesia - 26 June 1942 Middle East) service number 6856731, 1st Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps, was the son of Maurice Henry Liptz and Chaia Faiga Liptz nee Palte (1877-1954) of Bulawayo. Prior to joining the army he was a store assistant and lived at Gathe Mine, Mashaba, Rhodesia.
He was a Corporal and served with the 1st Battalion, King's Royal Rifle Corps. He died on active service in the Middle East. He is commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt.
