Biography

Grigory Plaskov was born on December 8, 1898 in Minsk , Belarus , into a Jewish family. The son of a worker.

After graduating from the 4 classes of the Jewish school in 1911 , he worked as a mechanic at a factory. From October 1917 or from 1918 - in the service of the Red Army. 

In 1917 - 1920 he fought in the Civil War. In 1922 he graduated from the courses of the red commanders. 

In 1925 he graduated from the Higher Artillery School. He commanded artillery units. 

In 1932 he graduated from the Military Academy. M.V. Frunze.

He was appointed commander of the artillery regiment.

In 1938 he graduated from the Military Academy of Chemical Protection in a special group.

He became the chief of artillery of the division and corps.

In 1941 - 1945 , during the Great Patriotic War - the commander of the artillery of the armies, for example, was the commander of the artillery of the 2nd Guards Tank Army.

January 21, 1942 - major general of artillery.

May 6, 1945 was presented to the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, however, for a known reason, was not awarded, despite the fact that G.K. Zhukov said "Braver than a soldier than General Plaskov, I don’t know." Despite the fact that Plaskov was 17 times noted in the orders of the Supreme Commander.

July 11, 1945 - lieutenant general of artillery.

After the war, he was deputy commander of the artillery of the military district.

In 1949 he graduated from the Higher Courses at the Military Academy of the General Staff.

Then again the deputy commander of the artillery of the military district.

In 1952 - 1956 - head of the military department of the Moscow Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals and Gold.

On November 16, 1956, retired.

He died on November 2, 1972 in Moscow .

His son Yuri rose to the rank of lieutenant colonel.
