Salomon van der Veen

Salomon van der Veen (30 November 1916 Rotterdam, Holland, The Netherlands - 27 August 1999, The Netherlands) was the son of Levie van der Veen (1880-1936) and Sara van der Veen born Presser (1883-1943). He was educated in Holland. He came to South Africa in 1936. He married Lucy Ruth Goffin on the 7 June 1946 in Durban and they had two children. The family lived in Johannesburg. He was a business executive.
During World War Two he served in the Royal Netherlands Navy from 1942 to 1946. His mother Sera (1883-1943) and two of his sisters, Sophia Mathilde van der Veen (1924-1943) and Josephine van der Veen (1928-1943) perished in the Holocaust.
