Biography

Otto Ballin (5 July 1900 Dresden, Saxony, Germany - 3 October 1988 Barnet, Greater London, England) was the son of Jacob Ballin (1867-1952) and Therese Ballin nee Schloss (1878-1947). He was an analytical chemist and emigrated to Durban, South Africa in 1929. He married Johanna Coblans (1911-1982) on the 3 December 1933 in Durban. Her family lived in Vryheid and were originally from Germany. The Ballins lived in Durban.

During World War Two Otto Ballin volunteered in the Union Defence Force.
