Biography

Olga Naomi Cohen nee Grusd (9 April 1918 South Africa - 11 March 2004 Johannesburg, South Africa) was the daughter of Joseph Grusd (1883-1937) and Phoebe Grusd nee Quint (1898-1987) of Germiston.
During World War Two she was a physiotherapist and served in the South African Military Nursing Service (S.A.M.N.S.). 'Among the young Jewish women of the town (Germiston) who joined the forces and did their share towards the common cause appear the names of .... Olga Gruzd, Nursing Sister, Physiotherapy section of the S.A.M.C.'
She married Bernard Cohen (1915 -2004) on the 23 February 1943 in Germiston. At that she was a physiotherapist serving in the South African Military Nursing Service (S.A.M.N.S.) and her husband was in active service.
