קורות חיים

ב-22 ביולי 1913, בפורט אליזבת, דרום אפריקה, לרוז (לבית פרידמן) ולהאריס. הוסמך כרופא באוניברסיטת קייפטאון.

במהלך מלחמת העולם השנייה שירת בחיל הרפואה של דרום אפריקה (S.A.M.C) מ-1942 עד 1946. בתחילה הוא הוצב בבית החולים הצבאי בראגוואנת, יוהנסבורג. בית החולים נבנה לבקשת הממשלה הקיסרית הבריטית ומומן בשלבים הראשונים של המלחמה, כדי לטפל בחיילים מפיקוד מזרח התיכון. בית החולים החל לקבל חולים במאי 1942, לאחר תקופת בנייה קצרה יחסית של 6 חודשים. לאחר מכן, ד"ר אדלר שירת באיטליה בבית חולים שדה זמני מס' 8 לטיפול וסיווג חולים ופצועים, שטיפל בנפגעים מהקווים הקדמיים ובבית החולים הכללי מס' 107..

לאחר המלחמה היה חבר בליגה היהודית לחיילים לשעבר. באפריל 1946הוא התחתן עם זנה אלקין ונולדו להם שני ילדים. הוא היה מנתח חזה בכיר בבית החולים הכללי של יוהנסבורג ובאוניברסיטת וויטווטרסרנד. בשנת 1961 הוא ומשפחתו עלו ארצה. הוא היה פרופסור לכירורגיית לב-חזה במרכז הרפואי רמב"ם, חיפה.
